Hi Priscilla,
Thank you for your comment. Everyone will have a different perception around this. Basically plastics in the world are kind of like cigarettes. Smoking cigarettes eventually can lead to death but it takes a long time. The overabundance of plastics in the world are not outright killing us but they are leading us to a slow death. I would recommend reading the book, Slow Death by Rubber Duck: How the Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Life Affects Our Health by Rick Smith , Bruce Lourie, and Sarah Dopp

When you study genes, you find out that they do not cause anything, they are just field of potential.

Hello Staccey,
It turns out we are we are not genetically determined, we are environmentally determined. So there is a potential through hereditary, but more important is your perception to your environment. So it is important to watch what you eat and all your environmental influences. With this new scientific knowledge available to us now, we see that we are much more in control of our health as we can change our perception to our environment and therefore change our outcome. There are potential tendencies and obviously your mother and you have the same tendency. Just be aware that you can change it if you want to.

I wonder if menopause is hereditary in its time to start. My mother started in her late 30s and I am finding that I am doing the same now in my mid 50s. Is it really something that can pass on through age by heredity?

Polystyrene containers for food have been used safely for more than 50 years, having been tested and deemed safe by government agencies. Any minuscule amount of styrene that may migrate out of polystyrene containers into food is far too small to be of any health concern. Moreover, styrene occurs naturally in many foodstuffs, including cinnamon, beef, coffee and strawberries.

Hi Charlene—

While I’m glad you’re concerned about the consumer safety, there’s a good and simple reason that chlorine is used in disinfection products: it’s effective at killing germs that can make us sick. Despite what Dr. Gayor states, chlorine is not classified as a known or possible carcinogen by EPA, the National Toxicology Program (NTP) or the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). It actually takes very little bleach to disinfect surfaces—just ½ tablespoon of bleach in ½ gallon of water is enough to kill bacteria, including e. coli and salmonella, on food preparation surfaces. Used properly, chlorine bleach degrades into salty water as it disinfects and is not harmful to the environment.

Best,
Jeff

Hello,
Thanks for the tip on the swiss water process decaf...I had never heard of it before. It's so true how our environment and lifestyle dictate what our genes will express instead of the other way around. So important for people to understand that THEY control their own health. Well put :)
